When is the best time to hunt ducks in Arkansas?

Try and schedule your hunt when the moon is dark. The ducks seem to be more active during this period.

What is the best shotgun to use for Arkansas waterfowl hunting?

Most hunters use a 12-gauge, but 20 is sufficient. 3 or 3.5-inch shells with 1-4 shot are recommended.

What do I need to bring on my guided duck hunt?

Hunting clothes (dress in layers), rain gear, camo clothing, extra boots, cooler to take home birds.

Do I need to buy my own Arkansas Duck hunting license?

Yes. We can assist you with this after you book your hunt, but you will need an Arkansas small game license, state and federal waterfowl stamps & HIP registration.

What licenses do I need to get before I arrive?

In order to hunt waterfowl in Arkansas, you will need an Arkansas small game license and a federal duck stamp, and either a state duck stamp or a non-resident waterfowl permit.

Do I need hunter education certification?

Anyone born after December 31, 1968, generally must complete an approved hunter education course. Youth hunters may hunt under direct supervision if they have not completed the course.

What species of ducks can I expect to shoot?

Ducks-N-Dogs’ ideal location offers opportunities on a variety of duck species: Mallard, Widgeon, Wood duck, Pintail, Teal, Canvasback, Speckled Belly, Gadwall, Black duck, Red Head, and a number of goose species. 

When is duck season in Arkansas?

The season is typically split into multiple segments between late fall and late January. But season dates change annually and are set by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) so hunters should check current AGFC regulations each year.

The 2026-2027 Arkansas Duck Season dates are: Nov. 21-30, 2026; Dec. 10-23, 2026; Dec. 27, 2026-Jan. 31, 2027.

The 2026-2027 Arkansas Goose Hunting Season are: Oct. 24-Nov. 1, 2026; Nov. 21-30, 2026; Dec. 10-23, 2026; Dec. 27, 2026-Jan. 31, 2027.

How much does a day of guided duck hunt in Arkansas cost?

Ducks-N-Dogs charges $700 per person. This includes an overnight at the lodge, meals, and duck processing. Each group has its own professional guide and a retrieving dog. Gratuities are not included in that price.

Is this a good hunt for youth hunters?

We welcome hunters of all ages and promise a duck and goose hunting experience you won’t forget.

Can you accommodate larger groups?

Our Luxury Waterfowl Hunting Lodge will comfortably accommodate up to 40 hunters, whether that's individuals or corporate groups.

What are the hunting limits for ducks in Arkansas?

For the 2026-27 season, the limits are: 6 ducks per day with no more than 4 mallards - 2 hens, 3 Wood ducks, 1 Black duck, 2 Pintails, one Canvasback, and 2 Redheads. Ducks not listed have no restrictions beyond the 6 ducks per day limit. Possession limits for ducks is 3 times the daily limit.

Can I also hunt geese?

Ducks-N-Dogs offers fully guided combo hunts for ducks and geese in the famous Stuttgart area of Arkansas. The goose hunting is done over dry land, typically in the afternoon, but occasionally in the morning. Hunting is in layout blinds, skid blinds, or ditches. Speckled belly, Snows (white front), and Blues are the common species of geese in the Stuttgart area.

What are the Arkansas state limits on geese?

For the 2026-27 season, the limits per hunter are: 2 Specklebellies, 20 Snow geese and 20 Blues.

What is a typical day of hunting like?

When you arrive at Ducks-n-Dogs Hunting Club, you will relax at the lodge, eat dinner, and prepare for the morning hunt. The following morning you will enjoy a continental breakfast before heading out from the lodge with your guide to the hunting spot. At noon, a Southern brunch will be served upon arrival of all duck hunters back at the lodge. Ducks will be processed for you and ready by the time you depart from the lodge.

What style of hunting should I expect?

Generally, hunting is done out of skid blinds and pit blinds, but duck boats are sometimes used as conditions dictate. Transportation to and from the blinds is provided by our Polaris crew cabs or 4-Wheelers. Most of our fields employ decoy spreads of anywhere between 100 - 500 decoys.

What size property do you hunt?

With access to over 7,000 acres of leases over a 35-mile area, Ducks-n-Dogs offers a wide array of Arkansas waterfowl hunting opportunities.  From flooded fields of rice, beans, milo, and corn, to flooded timber, river sloughs, and cypress swamps, we offer a variety of fully guided duck and goose hunting opportunities.

What is the closest airport to you?

Clinton National Airport in Little Rock, AK. The city of Stuttgart is located about 50 miles southeast of Little Rock. Then Ducks-N-Dogs is situated 32 miles southeast of Stuttgart, Arkansas.

What equipment is required or restricted?

Shotguns must be plugged to hold no more than three shells. Non-toxic shot is required. Federal law requires hunters to use approved non-toxic steel bismuth or tungsten-based shot. Hunting over bait is illegal.

Are guided duck hunts worth it, or should I try to do a DIY hunt?

Although we are biased, we truly believe a guided hunting experience is the best way to enjoy a duck hunt in Arkansas with the best possible outcome. Our Ducks-N-Dogs guides scout the surrounding area daily to locate positions holding the largest concentrations of birds to ensure you and your hunting group have a great waterfowl hunting experience. All of our duck hunting guides are locals to the Stuttgart region, with lifelong waterfowl hunting knowledge of the area. They are expert duck hunters and duck callers and work hard to provide you with a successful and memorable Arkansas duck hunt.

Why is Arkansas considered so good for duck hunting?

The Ducks-N-Dogs lodge is located in St. Charles, Arkansas in an area that is often referred to as "Arkansas' Magic Duck Hunting Triangle", where the White River, Arkansas River, and Mississippi River meet. This is right near the city of Stuttgart which is widely known as the "Duck Capital of the World." Arkansas sits in the Mississippi Flyway and provides abundant winter habitat, including flooded timber, wetlands, and rice fields.
